CSIL - LE GRAND TAMOUR

Launch of the book ‘Le Grand Tamour’ by Csil and Alex Cousseau, with book signing on 22 October, exhibition of illustrations and many other wonders by CSIL & Yvan Blavier until 12 November at SLOW Lux

FIRST OPENING at the NEW SLOW Galerie, 60 rue Monsieur le Prince on the Left Bank of Paris (6th arrondissement) – with Casterman.

‘The Grand Tamour, we don't really know what he looks like. What's more, he hides himself away. And sometimes he disguises himself. Cherch wants to find the great Tamour. Trouv wants to help him look. What about you? Do you want to find the great Tamour too? (As they're not very clever, Cherch and Trouv often get lost. If you can find them too, thank you!)’ . PUBLISHED BY Casterman.

Csil, illustrator, joins forces with Alex Cousseau for a declaration of love in the form of a game.  An investigation by Cherch et Trouv that combines a story + a search-and-find game for young and old alike, published by Casterman. Csil lives and works in the Ardennes. She believes in the magic of images. Her world is unique, sensitive, whimsical and offbeat.
She is equally adept at illustrating children's books, drawing strange creatures on one-centimetre squares, unfolding a landscape across the width of a fresco, running workshops with children, exploring engraving and screen printing, or trying her hand at three-dimensional installations for exhibitions related to her books. In short, she has many strings to her bow, and her arrows strike the heart.

Alex Cousseau lives near the ocean in northern Finistère. For the past twenty years, he has devoted himself to writing. On the one hand, he writes illustrated albums, mostly in close collaboration with others (Csil, Éva Offredo, Janik Coat, Charles Dutertre and many others), and on the other, he writes novels. In the latter, he explores different worlds, the possible and the impossible, mixing genres and taking pleasure in inventing lives and characters.

Csil and Yvan present a collection that we could describe as "Grand Tamoureuse"!

A series of objects that blends the art of illustration, the art of ceramics, but above all, the art of storytelling. More than just high-temperature firing, this is a true dialogue between the two artists.

Through their respective disciplines, they bring together their unique worlds, styles and expertise. A true collaboration between four hands and two big hearts! Weeks of work are spent drawing, shaping, piercing, decorating, gently drying, firing, glazing, firing again and screwing. Then, as if it were a necessary process, Csil brings the characters to life with her pencil strokes. The ceramic then becomes a sheet of paper, lending an unexpected fragility to the material. Keep your eyes peeled, as surprises are sometimes hidden inside, outside, in front, behind, above, below... These are unique pieces or very small series (but they are all different!), so hurry, as there won't be enough for everyone.
