"FAIRE DES VAGUES", new exhibition by Jessica Lisse

Exhibition of acrylic paintings on paper, cobblestones, and skateboards!

Many times (...) people asked me, ‘What are you doing today?’ and I found myself answering, ‘I don't know, I'll probably make waves.’ It was much later, when I thought about my exhibition, that I decided I would continue making waves until June and then frame them to display them.
Jessica draws inspiration from everything around her, people, words, silences, objects gleaned on her walks that change her life when she picks them up, a piece of wood, a paving stone, an old skateboard... She has a talent for observation and storytelling, and painting gives her the double pleasure of doing both. Her life is like a novel and her works resemble her life. We enter them on tiptoe so as not to disturb the subtle balance of this strange world. "In addition to landscapes, I have painted quirky objects that are like a cabinet of curiosities of dreamlike escape. Trivial pebbles offered as priceless treasures, lost envelopes that narrowly missed their restless recipients, abandoned bedposts, pillows used as canoes, keys that open the door to freedom." Watching her paint with her tiny brushes is an experience not to be missed. She paints intuitively, applying a succession of small acrylic strokes that she picks up from her porcelain plate. Slowly, like a silent ceremony, the drawing takes shape and emerges, surreal scenes of disturbing realism.
