To celebrate the first anniversary of its Left Bank venue, SLOW Galerie presents Un petit coin de paradis with a selection of works that each offer a space in which to take refuge: comforting landscapes, dreamlike architecture, scenes of tranquillity and imaginary gardens. These images, imbued with calm and presence, are conceived as invitations to slow down and reconnect with a sense of inner peace.
From 24 September to 1 December 2026, the exhibition brings together the 24 artists represented by La SLOW, the agency run by the gallery, which supports contemporary illustrators in their collaborations with brands, institutions and the media, whilst helping to shape and promote the current illustration scene.
In a context marked by technological saturation and a form of ‘digital fatigue’, where generated content tends to standardise the imagination, SLOW Galerie reaffirms the power of the artistic gesture and visual storytelling. The exhibition is part of a movement towards a return to emotion, authenticity and sensitive forms of representation.
The exhibition also affirms the unique identity of SLOW Galerie Luxembourg: a space dedicated to sensory experimentation, craft-based practices and dialogues between image, material and volume. Un petit coin de paradis explores how contemporary artists today create images capable of generating new imaginaries of everyday life.
The exhibition brings together a variety of visual worlds featuring intimate landscapes, frozen moments of everyday life, dreamlike architecture, lush gardens and imaginary refuges. Through a range of media — illustration, ceramics, printmaking, painting and three-dimensional works — the artists create a sensitive cartography of our contemporary aspirations.
Populated by interacting human figures, the works pay particular attention to the seasons, materials and atmospheres. They depict both physical places and emotional states: spaces in which to slow down, live fully in the present, rebuild connections and imagine alternative ways of living.
Rather than seeking a naïve escape, Un petit coin de paradis offers a reflection on contemporary forms of refuge. Against a backdrop of collective uncertainties and anxieties, the exhibition affirms the power of images to create moments of sensory respite and to conjure up desirable horizons.
Bringing together artists with highly distinctive styles, the exhibition also bears witness to the vitality of the current illustration scene, which SLOW Galerie has been supporting for over ten years.
“We wanted to mark our first year on the Left Bank with an exhibition that explores what images can still offer today: comfort, a sense of escape, and emotional resonance. Un petit coin de paradis brings together artists who, each in their own way, create spaces where you can pause for a moment.”
