Gabriel Mafféis is a French artist who was born in 1998 in Epinal, and graduated from the École des Arts Décoratifs in Strasbourg in 2022.
His magical universe is recognisable by its pop colours and psychedelic scenes, which exude an atmosphere of joyful harmony: the imaginary and the fantastic evoke, beyond the boundaries of reality and with great gentleness, the joy of sharing and living together, as well as the bonds between humans and nature and the environment.
Masculinity and homosexual love have also long been favourite themes in his work, leading him to regularly participate in projects related to the LGBTQIA+ community. In 2023, he created the collaborative magazine ‘Miels’, in which he uses his dreamlike and colourful style to represent and express queer experiences in comic book form. He also presents his work at numerous illustration festivals.
Now based in Paris, where he works as a freelance illustrator, Gabriel Mafféis is currently developing his first personal comic book project.
