IL PISTRICE

Born in Rome, Francesca draws cardboard chimeras under the pseudonym of Pistrice, the name of her favorite sea monster. "The woman is the privileged subject: pleasure, desire and sensory pleasures are the essence of her work. Bright white light fragmented into colors so intensely saturated that they sizzle, seeming to scream with some primal glee, shading in with unsubtle depth these fever dreams of femininity. Il Pistrice delivers bold paintings that seem to melt through outer heaviness to free an inner lightness of being." She works also as graphic designer on cultural communication projects and notably founded in 2011 an association for the promotion of young illustrators named Squame.
