More than 70 pieces are on display, and when you consider the labor and technique required for just one, you can appreciate the monumental task undertaken by the artist for “Maison de campagne.”
What Floriane presents is unique and a departure from what one might expect when thinking of a ceramics exhibition: far from any academicism, she uses this technique to illustrate her emotions, her memories, her favorite subjects closely connected to nature, ranging from mini-formats to large panoramas, and for each piece, the firing process may or may not complete the work, requiring immense tension and attention from start to finish!
A bit like engraving, when you choose ceramics, you don't work alone, but in tandem with a material and a technique that sometimes have a mind of their own. Yet it is this medium that Floriane has chosen and with which she expresses herself best. It is on “raw” clay that she paints with the greatest ease, that her drawing truly reflects her sensitivity, preferring to leave the final color result to successive firings of engobes.
Her paintings are extremely precise, her compositions always spot on, backed by a wonderfully soft and luminous palette and an inspiration where fantasy, poetry, and freedom of expression play a major role in her choice of subjects. These designs are as much illustrations on ceramics as they are illustrated ceramics, most of them in the form of medallions to hang on the wall. In short, Floriane is shaking up and renewing the codes, brilliantly establishing herself in this ancestral discipline with all her inventiveness and creativity. Welcome to this sublime part of the countryside, until February 10
