WATCH OUT FOR FAKES: THE WEBSITE WWW.SLOWGALERIES.COM (WITH AN "S") IS A SCAM
Gouache and pointed brushes, forests and bushy animals. Nejma Bourouaha draws harmless stories with an amused eye for the zany everyday life of her imaginary forest. A graduate of the Ecole Emile Cohl in 2007, her work is inspired by Russian illustrations and impressionist colours. Her comforting images bear the traces of her childhood reading. In January 2025, the artist published her first book, ‘Shamal & Bora’, with Didier Jeunesse, recounting the cosy cohabitation of a mole and a hedgehog. The images are magnificent, and the text is full of humour and poetry. The book also has a message for children: how can we live together when we're different?
