CLÉMENCE MONNET
The PayPal module will be back soon; for the time being, payment is by credit card only.
After spending her childhood in Sologne, Clémence Monnet studied art history at the Faculté des Tanneurs in Tours and then at the Institut d'Arts Visuels in Orléans. She began her career in the south of France in the design department of a children's fashion brand, where she honed her skills as a textile designer before moving back to the Paris region to work as a freelancer. The illustrator has also expanded her work into the fields of journalism and publishing (Revue XXI, Dada, Seuil Jeunesse, Mango, etc.).
She has since developed her personal practice and evolved her style: using a variety of techniques, ranging from watercolour to coloured pencils and Indian ink with a brush, she strives to represent the poetry of everyday life in interior scenes with a warm intimacy. The depth of colour and attention to detail are reminiscent of the paintings of Félix Vallotton, but above all reflect the illustrator's decorative sensibility: the interiors are lavishly adorned with beautiful curtains, vases and floral fabrics, while being bathed in a subdued atmosphere that retains an air of mystery.
In addition to her commissioned work, she runs workshops for young audiences and teaches illustration classes to students in the Bachelor of Graphic Arts programme.
