Clémence Trossevin

From the plane trees of the Cévennes to the Tuileries Garden, from zinc roofs to tiled roofs, Clémence Trossevin’s gouaches take us on a journey between Paris and the south, on a contemplative stroll : sometimes we are in the city, wandering beneath a covered passageway or through a park; sometimes we are out in the countryside, often in the shade of trees, and always beneath a clear blue sky.

In Clémence’s drawings, we pause to appreciate the charm of a landscape or the unexpected beauty of a small detail: we are moved by a solitary fisherman on the banks of the Canal Saint-Martin, by the grace of a statue, by a fabric with refined patterns, or by a ruin overgrown with vegetation near a small path.

It is in these truly elegant compositions, where clear, supple lines—refined and meticulous—are combined with soft blocks of green and blue, that the full finesse and sensitivity of the artist’s work is revealed.
